8th of April. International Roma Day. On this day in 1971, the 1st World Romani Congress in London set up a holiday to celebrate diversity and protect cultural heritage of people from this nomadic ethnic group. This holiday also promotes the ideas of tolerance and Human Rights.

Free Trade Union Day. On this day in 1945, the 1st World Trade Union Conference was held in London, organized by the British Trade Union Congress. The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) was established several months later.

Holocaust Memorial Day. On this day in 1945, the prisoners of the Nazi Auschwitz  concentration camp were liberated by the Soviet troops.

Day of coming into force of Peace Treaty of Versailles, which officially ended World War I

International Migrant’s Day, designated by the UN in 2000.

International Human Rights Day. On this day in 1948, the UN Assembly adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global enunciation of human rights.

International Volunteer Day, declared in 1985 by the United Nations.

 International Day for the Abolition of Slavery recalls the date of the adoption of the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others and commemorates the struggle against slavery and its abolition.

World Day against Death Penalty. For the first time held in 2003 on initiative from the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
